CONGRATULATIONS!
4TH ANNUAL POTATO DROP
A BIG SUCCESS!

Glenwood Park distributed 42,000 pounds of potatoes to local agencies (Harvesters, Community Service League, Don Bosco Center, Newhouse, City Union Mission, etc.),
food pantries, and families on October 31, 2009.  These potatoes were obtained through the Society of St. Andrew.  The potatoes, seconds not acceptable for the grocery stores, would have normally ended up in a Minnesota dump.  Instead they were gleaned from the fields to help feed our local area families.  Members of the Glenwood Park congregation and friends worked together to rebag the 100 pound bags into smaller 5-10 pound bags.  Thanks to everyone for their contribution of time and power toward this major undertaking.

Ongoing monetary support is given to the United Methodist Committee on Relief.  UMCOR provides disaster relief around the world.

Festival of Sharing (www.umocm.org)
The Festival of Sharing is a ecumenical outreach held each October in Sedalia, Missouri.  Glenwood Park provides various support to this outreach:  youth helpers, mission kits,  blankets, monetary support, etc.

$130 was collected for blankets and sent to the 2009 Festival of Sharing with the youth attending.  Glenwood Park was also represented in the quilt auction with a quilt.  The quilt top was provided by Cindy Hartnett and finished by Cindy Fillpot for the auction.

Twelve Missouri family food boxes, 3 emergency clean-up buckets, and 3 baby blankets were sent to the 2008 Festival with the youth who attended.  Awesome job!

VIM Mission Trips
The youth group participates each year in a conference sponsored volunteers in mission trip.  Their 2009 trip was to Sikeston, Missouri to do rehab work at Mission Missouri's House of Liberty Addiction Recovery Program building.  Go to the youth page to read more about this trip.
Other trips have included the Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma, Hurricane Katrina relief in Mississippi, and Hurricane Rita relief in Texas.

We are currently looking for volunteers for an adult VIM team.  VIM projects are available locally, statewide, nationally, and internationally.  Please let Pastor Wimberley know if you are interested in being part of this valuable ministry.
